Coincidence or was it really her?

My mom passed away last November, and the other day, I found myself shopping in one of her favorite stores.
As I wandered through the aisles, memories of our shopping trips together came flooding back. I thought about all the times we'd spent looking for just the right outfit, laughing, talking, and simply enjoying being together.
It's funny how the most ordinary moments can become the memories we treasure most.
And then, something happened.
The music playing over the store's speakers suddenly changed.
I stopped in my tracks.
It was James Taylor. Not just any song, but my mom's favorite James Taylor song. Of all the songs that could have played, in all the places I could have been, there I was, standing in one of her favorite stores, listening to a song that instantly brought her back to me.
Tears filled my eyes, but I couldn't help smiling. For a moment, it felt as though she was right there with me.
I could have brushed it off as a coincidence. After all, songs play in stores every day.
But something in my heart told me to pause.
So I did.
I stood there for a moment, took a deep breath, and allowed myself to feel what I was feeling.
And in that moment, I felt close to my mom again.
My heart filled with gratitude. Silently, I thanked her for the beautiful reminder and told her how much I loved and missed her.
It was such a simple moment, yet it meant more to me than I can put into words.
Grief has a way of reminding us of what's missing. But sometimes, in the most unexpected moments, we are reminded of the love that remains.
I've come to believe that connection doesn't necessarily end when someone we love is no longer physically here. Sometimes, we experience little moments that make us stop, smile through our tears, and feel that connection all over again.
Maybe it's a familiar song that plays at just the right time. A butterfly that appears when we're thinking of someone. A feather, a familiar scent, or something that happens at a moment when we need comfort most.
Some people call them signs from loved ones. Others call them beautiful coincidences.
I don't think we always need to explain them.
Sometimes, it's enough to simply experience the moment and appreciate what it brings to our hearts.
That day in the store, I didn't need to prove whether it was a coincidence or something more.
I just knew how it made me feel.
For those few moments, the sadness of missing my mom was softened by the warmth of remembering her. And I walked out of that store feeling a little more connected to her than when I walked in.
Maybe that's one of the most beautiful things about love. Even when someone is gone, the love we shared continues to find its way into our lives.
And sometimes, all it takes is a song.
Have you ever experienced a moment that made you wonder if someone you loved was reaching out to remind you they were still close? I'd love to hear your story.
